Grant Regions
Land, Health, Community Program
Region: East Central Illinois
Land, Health, Community (LHC) is the Foundation’s primary and largest grantmaking program and reflects the Lumpkin family's historic connection and commitment to the community. A minimum of 50 percent of its annual grantmaking budget is spent on projects in East Central Illinois.This program has one grant cycle in the spring.
Nature-Based Climate Action Program
Region: East Central Illinois
The Nature-Based Climate Action program began in 2020 to demonstrate and promote tree planting, prairie and wetland restoration, and other nature-based solutions to climate mitigation in rural areas.
Land, Health, Community-Chicago Program
Region: Chicagoland
Land, Health, Community-Chicago Program is a grantmaking program offered to organizations in the Chicago region by the Lumpkin Family Foundation. This program has one grant cycle in the fall.
Neighborhood Fresh Programs
Region: Chicagoland
Austin Fresh and North Lawndale Fresh are collaborative grant making programs designed to increase access to healthy affordable food, support community gardens and local food production, grow food enterprises, and protect and strengthen food assistance programs in the Austin and North Lawndale neighborhoods of Chicago.
Good Food Policy Program
Region: National
The Good Food Policy Program will invite applications for grants that align with our vision and mission of strengthening and enacting change in the good food movement. This program is administered in the spring by invitation only.
Wellness Grant Program
Region: East Central Illinois and Chicagoland
LFF grantees who received LFF funding within the last 3 calendar years can apply for a one-time grant of up to $2,500 to support reasonable wellness activities or programming that will result in a period of rest or rejuvenation for organizational staff and/or leadership.
How to Apply:
With the exception of the Good Food Policy Program, our grant programs have open application processes that begin with a Letter of Inquiry (LOI). The entire LOI and application process is online. Your LOI will be reviewed to determine whether the proposed effort fits sufficiently with our Mission and Program Goals to merit further review. If so, we will invite you to submit a full application.
